Using this software well
Open Engineering tools are free software, offered in good faith and built to be used. This page says how to get the most from them, and what the licences say.
Production use
OpenDraft is an evolving tool built for professional drawing, calculation, and planning, featuring crash recovery and auto-saving. Because it is early-stage software, maintain standard habits, such as exporting important files to DXF backups, and independently verify critical outputs as you would with any spreadsheet or colleague’s work.
What the licence says
Like most free software, the tools are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and the authors are not liable for loss or damage arising from their use, to the extent the law allows. That is the standard position under the GPL, and the licence text carries the formal wording. It does not change how much care has gone into the software.
Trademarks
DWG and DXF are trademarks of Autodesk, Inc., named only to describe file compatibility. “Open Plan” is a product of Deltek. No affiliation with or endorsement by either is implied.
